Establish an Endowment Fund to Assure the Future of Our Synagogue
The synagogue has been the center of Jewish life for over 2,000 years. BSBI provides a center for east-of-the-river Jews to pray, learn about and enjoy our Jewish heritage and culture. BSBI is the heart of the Jewish community in our area and helps to transmit the values of charity, care for the aged, visiting the sick, education of our adults, children and grandchildren in Jewish values and tradition.
BSBI is fortunate to have an endowment run by an Endowment Foundation, a legal entity overseen by its own board of trustees. The Foundation’s purpose is to solicit, invest and distribute funds to further the mission of BSBI. A gift to the Endowment Foundation provides an opportunity for donors and their families to enhance the future of our Jewish community. Endowment funds may be designated for a particular interest or on an unrestricted basis. To this end, the Foundation receives philanthropic gifts and bequests to assure the viability of our synagogue.
The Endowment Foundation is administered by a board of trustees observing the following provisions:
- Any donation with the principal amount of at least $1,000 but less than $5,000 may be a Named Fund as part of the General Endowment Fund.
- Any Fund in the principal amount of $5,000 or more may be: Named, Purpose designated by the contributor, Maintained in perpetuity
Contributions are tax-deductible and may be given as stocks, bonds, marketable securities or cash. In addition, the Endowment Foundation can be named as the beneficiary of bequests or designated the owner or recipient of life insurance policies.
